Rolinda Stotts is a visionary artist and the creator of Bella Rotta—Italian for “Beautiful Broken.” Rooted in a deep appreciation for imperfection, her work evokes the timeless beauty of aged frescoes through a meticulous ten-step oil painting process. Inspired by her childhood on a dairy farm and a life-changing journey to Italy, Rolinda’s art embodies resilience, history, and the human connection to nature.

Her artistic journey began unexpectedly. Raised without exposure to the arts, it wasn’t until a trip to Italy at age 22 that she discovered the power of creation. Immersed in the rich textures of centuries-old murals and the Italian reverence for art, she felt an unshakable calling. Years later, she found her medium—fine art oil paints—and Bella Rotta was born.

Each Bella Rotta painting is crafted to appear as though it has survived centuries. Rolinda begins by building her own canvas, layering hand-mixed oils, then physically breaking and reconstructing the surface, allowing cracks and textures to emerge naturally. The result is an artwork that invites touch and tells a story of imperfection, endurance, and transformation.

Since her first gallery representation in 2004, Rolinda’s work has been exhibited nationwide, with collectors drawn to the evocative depth and tactile nature of her pieces. For her, creating is more than a profession—it is a meditation, a way to embrace life’s fractures and find peace within them.

Her work is now represented in galleries across the country, including Cobalt Gallery, Marcus Ashley Gallery, and others. Whether capturing the golden hues of the Arizona landscape or the ethereal beauty of an ancient fresco, Rolinda’s art reminds us that in imperfection, there is grace—and in brokenness, there is beauty.
