Egidio Antonaccio is a man gifted with a rare talent. His realistic impressionism oil paintings express his love for and the beauty of nature. Over his long career as an artists, he has developed a brilliant and commanding style, his paintings full of fine detail and an emphasis on color, shadow, and light that heightens the ambiance of his works.
Antonaccio was born in Castelluccio, Italy in 1954. In 1973, he graduated the Institute of Fine Art in Castrovillari, and in 1978, graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. While in Italy, he studied with some of the great modern masters of Italian art. In 1981, he came to the United States and made North Carolina his home, the mountains’ sunlit valleys and shadowy hillsides having since become an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the artist. He has also studied under and painted with American Master Edward Szmyd.
His paintings are light , intricate, and delicate, full of idyllic and romantic sceneries from an elegant, tucked away garden full of foliage and summer scents, to the vast panoramic views of hillsides and valleys. They all evoke a sense of grace and tranquility.
