Bo Bradford is a self taught artist who currently resides in Morristown, TN. From the artist: “I began painting some time after becoming paralyzed from a diving accident in the Smokey Mountains of eastern Tennessee. Several years after rehabilitation, I was given a set of watercolors by a friend. Since I have limited use of my arms and hands, it seemed the free flowing nature, and it’s versatility, that watercolor would be a natural fit for me. “
“I use several different [watercolor painting] techniques and I strive to achieve a richness, luminosity, and depth of color usually associated with an oil painting. My teachers have the been the trial and error of each painting and learning as I go. I have also studied the paintings and been influenced by artists such as Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, and Bill Houston. Although some of my subject matter is imaginative, most of my subject matter is inspired by the surrounding countryside in Hamblen County where I have resided for the past 35 years.”
